The MTV boys and Mike Judge have come up with another tasty game here, one which combines adventure and humor in a tight package. "Uh, you said package."

As can be inferred from the title, Beavis & Butt-head Do U takes the duo to college. Before you start worrying about such a radical change in the series, they're not actually in college. Instead, this another Van Driessen mind-expanding field trip, this time to local Highland State University. In his good-natured, hippie way, he wants the students to prepare for the coming years when they're all (well, maybe not all) in college themselves. In the boys' horndog, single-minded way, they want to take the opportunity to score with college sluts. And as Beavis will constantly remind you, they really, really think it might happen this time.

I am one of those deprived Americans who doesn't have cable TV and so don't have much exposure to Beavis and Butt-head, MTV's music video commentators. What little I have seen, I have detested, I believe mainly due to the fact that I think music videos are stupid. However, I played Beavis and Butt-head in Virtual Stupidity a couple of years ago with much enjoyment, even going so far as to rank it in my lifetime top games, and so I was really excited to hear there was a new B&BH adventure game out. I was not disappointed by Do U.

Another Beavis & Butt-head game from GT, and thank bejeezus it's a good 'un. Unlike the terminally boring Bunghole In One, Beavis & Butt-head Do U is both playable and enjoyable, and the simple point-and-click adventure-style of play befits the nature of the television original. Written by Mike Judge himself, Do U is a hilarious enactment of a high school college visit - a place where, according to Beavis, the hapless duo will be able to 'make it with naked college sluts'. All the voices are right, as are the graphics (even the rough edges), and as you play through the game you feel as though you are in charge of your very own TV episode.

This is a fun game if you are a big fan of the show, otherwise it can get a little boring after a while because every action causes a short movie sequence which take a minute or so. Overall, it doesn't have too many bad features, and the graphics and sounds make up for any shortcomings, so its a decent game.

Beavis and Butthead Do U is a good, solid adventure. The story is missing some of the cleverness that made Virtual Stupidity such a wonderful game. The interface is easy to use and doesn't get in the way. It's not nearly as smart or funny as the boys' first adventure and is missing too many popular characters. For fans of the series, it is worth checking out; non-fans won't appreciate it as much. Bottom Line: Decent SVGA graphics, done in the style of the Beavis and Butthead MTV series. The story and gameplay are not nearly as clever or fresh as Virtual Stupidity. Too many popular characters are missing. Worth checking out if you're a B&B fan.

For beginning gamers who love the series, Beavis and Butt-head is probably a decent buy at $29.99, provided they're not expecting the game to rival the show in the humor department. Intermediate and advanced players, though, are probably better off using the time they'd have spent with this game taping episodes they've missed over the years, and using the money they would have spent go to the new Beavis and Butt-head movie when it comes out this August.

Beavis and Butt-head Do U. seems to have all the ingredients of a very cool adventure. It's pretty hard to go wrong when you mix Beavis and Butt-head with college coeds, drunken frat boys, liberal college professors, an uptight dean, and horse poop. But Illusions has left this fertile comedic ground largely unplowed, thanks to a severe shortage of characters for the boys to interact with and a paucity of places for them to spread their endearing form of mayhem.

Overall I can only recommend this for the type that must play every Adventure game or extreme fans of Beavis & Butthead. It was fun while it lasted, but it's just too damn short! If this had some kind of redeeming replay value, like alternative ending or visiting other colleges, then this would be a worthy adversary to advice getting. Since it falls short of this, grab at your own risk.

Game Over Online (Jan 31, 1999)
Unless you’re one of those people who just can't get Beavis and Butt-head out of your head, then by all means pick this game up. However, I do recommend reading some other reviews and picking up one of a plethora of other games instead. If you’re one of those people who never liked the show then this is a game to further enhance your hatred to these two annoying individuals. Old graphics, bad puzzles and total lack of a good plot make this game a dust collector on the shelves of America's computer stores.

Spel för Alla (May, 1999)

The premise of the latest Beavis and Butt-head game it to complete a field trip to the local college as fast as possible in order to get to the party afterward. The party the instruction guide tells you is where the guys need to pick-up chicks, or as the characters utter endlessly "Do College sluts." Of course perennial do-gooder Mr. Van Diessen has told the boys they have to visit a number of different classes on campus and have the respective teachers sign off for them. This begins the game as each teacher has a different task for the boys to accomplish before they will sign their sheet.

Beavis and Butt-head Do U. is relatively inexpensive for an adventure game, but the word that keeps coming to mind is cheap -- just cheap. Frankly, I can't recommend plopping down money for this unless you are a dyed-in-the-wool Beavis and Butt-head fan and have to own everything Mike Judge has ever created. I breezed through this game in four hours, and the only reason why it took me that long was because I tried every possible action I could, even patently absurd ones. The game made me laugh exactly once. I'm sorry, but if you're going to cough up $30 for a game, you'd better get at least two laughs out of it. I give it a score of 21 because it is a pitiful game by today's standards, but it did make me laugh.
