Red Alert

The player controls a ship that can move left and right, protecting six cities around the world from enemy aircraft that pass through during the day. The enemies come in two groups. The first group of enemies are sonic jet fighters that drop missiles on their passthrough. Three of the planes dive at the player in an attempt to destroy their ship. The second group are helicopters that launch parachutes bombs. The player must destroy enemies within a time limit, because if they fail to deal with a group of enemies by 11:00 hours, MIRV (Multiple Independent Re-entry Vehicle) will appear at the top of the screen, launching a full-scale assault on the city, and a loss of life is inevitable as its mini-bombs are spread across the screen, and the player's ship moves at a slow pace. Assuming that the player manages to get through the day, they will battle planes at night. Two spotlights will appear, helping the player see where each plane is. The planes can take down the spotlights one at a time, leaving the player in pitch blackness. If the player destroys all enemies here, they proceed to the next city.
