Terra Cresta
- Terra Cresta (1985 on Arcade, 1986 on Commodore 64, NES...)
Description
The high-tech Terra Cresta ship should be capable of wiping out alien forces on a disputed planet. You're the pilot, and must shoot out every ship, defence tower and minefield you find as you fly around its surface.
The action is viewed from above, scrolling only at the top, leaving you with a set journey to follow. You are limited to 2 bullets on screen at a time, so each shot should be tactically considered.
Power-ups are released by numbered buildings - shoot the building and then fly immediately in front of it to collect them. Once you have a a power-up Formation Mode, which gives you multiple firing positions as the ship splits of itself, is an option. Some aliens can only be defeated when in Formation Mode.

Trivia
References
The high-score table for this game is an apparent joke. At first glance there are ten three-letter names displayed - HEO, ELD, WII, STN, OED, NAU, ERR, DTE, GIL and ECL - yet when read down the screen instead, these can be seen to spell out the names of six other publishers of the day - Hewson, Edge, Elite, Artic, Odin and Durell. The choice for the first column may also be a reference to the Irish pop-rock group U2, as their singer Bono's real name is Paul Hewson, while guitarist David Evans is widely known as 'The Edge'
