Alexey Furman is a game designer, creative producer, and University of Missouri alumni.

In July 2021, he joined People Can Fly, a worldwide game development studio, as a game designer.

For a year and a half, Alexey worked at Frogwares, a Ukrainian game development studio famous for the Sherlock Holmes franchise, and The Sinking City, as a Features Games Designer. He worked on Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One, the upcoming open-world adventure game scheduled to release in 2021 for PC, PS5, XSX, and the past-gen consoles.

In 2020, as a creative director and lead game designer, Alexey led two teams to release two video games on grants from the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation. One is Tukoni, a point-and-click puzzle adventure based on a world by a Ukrainian artist. The other is The Point of no Return, a walking simulator about a Ukrainian soldier serving in the war zone.

Before Frogwares, Alexey worked at New Cave Media, a small studio that he co-founded. As a creative director, Alexey led the studio’s prime project, a virtual reality documentary Aftermath VR: Euromaidan, which received the Journalism 360 Challenge Grant from Google News Lab in July 2017. In the fall of 2018, Alexey oversaw a successful Kickstarter campaign for the project that raised over $11,000. The project was showcased at a number of international film festivals in 2019, including Sheffield Doc/Fest, DOK Leipzig, and goEast Film Festival, where it won the Open Frame Award for the best VR project.

Alexey’s background is in photojournalism and documentary storytelling. In 2017, he graduated from Missouri School of Journalism (Columbia, MO) on a Fulbright Scholarship.
