[Composer and Sound Designer]

Steve Burke grew up on the Isle of Man, where he got involved with music from an early age. He started playing the clarinet and joined the Manx Youth Orchestra when he was at Junior School, and was hooked on music from that point on. At home he had a piano that he played nearly every day, which lead to a traditional classical music background.

At 20, he decided to head off to London and study music at King’s College London. There, he studied composition, conducting, orchestrating, and piano at the Royal Academy of Music as well. After that he specialized in composition at the Royal College of Music for his Masters degree. While at college, he also went to many film score recording sessions and concerts. There he met great composers such as John Williams and Michael Kamen.

After working for a film composer in London for a year or so after college, he found out that Rare was looking for a composer/sound designer. He was hired and has been busy writing music and making bizarre noises for games ever since. For Kameo: Elements of Power, he recorded about 70 minutes of music with an 80-piece orchestra and a 40-piece choir in Prague, with an additional hour from sampled bits recorded in his studio at Rare.
