Marc Schmitt
Biography edit · view history
Marc Schmitt (b. 3rd December, 1972) is rooted in drawing Comics and Manga-style Comic-Art since 1988. After publishing some Mangas and illustrated books in Japan, he went over doing computer graphics on a private basis, as well as within various demo-scene groups.
After graduating the university (Japanology) he was employed as Graphic Artist and Level Designer (Lead Level Designer later on) by CDV Software Entertainment AG in 2001.
In 2003, he co-founded Dark Crystal Entertainment GbR, a small company dedicated in developing games for hand-helds and cell-phones.
After the close-down of the CDV production studio, he went over to NEON Studios at the end of 2003 where he worked on the Playstation 2 title Legend of Kay.
In 2006, he was employed as Lead Artist by RocketScience Games Development GmbH (formerly known as ZEAL GmbH), where he worked on games like Pet Vet 3D: Wild Animal Hospital and The Settlers: Rise of an Empire (in the context of graphic outsourcing services for Blue Byte).
At the end of 2008, Marc Schmitt got a nasty surprise when his employer RocketScience Games Development GmbH went insolvent. The close-down of the development studio in March 2009 was the starter's bell for co-founding his own company Heptamind together with two of his former team-mates, Janosch Dalecke and Walter Heil.
Heptamind, founded on 3rd April, 2009 is a small development studio dedicated in creating games on multiple platforms like PC, NDS and Wii, focusing on high quality adventures.
After nearly one year of existence, Heptamind was not able to be in business any more due to the stricken economy in the German games industry. The founders of Heptamind were forced to break up. At the end of March 2010, Marc Schmitt became a freelancer and started to offer his skills as Visual Designer and Digital Artist outside the games industry. At present, he has established his freelance business within the industrial sector of simulation technology development.
