Richard Kiel was an American actor best known for playing Jaws in the James Bond film franchise.
Kiel was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1939. His family moved to Los Angeles when he was 9 years old. After leaving high school Kiel worked in several different jobs including as a salesman, nightclub bouncer and mathematics tutor. Kiel became an actor in the 1960s and appeared in many roles in film and television. He often played villains. His final film role was as the voice of Vladimir in the 2010 animated film Tangled.
Kiel supplied both his voice and likeness as Jaws for the video game James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing. Jaws also appeared in several other games based on James Bond but Kiel's likeness was uncredited.
Kiel was married twice and had four children. He died of a heart attack in St. Agnes Medical Center, Fresno in 2014.
