ROD CHONG entered the New Media program at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Canada in 1989. The New Media program addressed his interests in video, computer-generated imagery, graphics and typography.

From 1992-97 Chong pursued a career as a music video director and new media artist in Vancouver, Toronto, Los Angeles, Brussels and Amsterdam, He worked extensively with electronic-dance group Front Line Assembly, their techno-house project Intermix, as well as cyber-gothics Skinny Puppy, big-beat pioneers Meat Beat Manifesto, Marilyn Manson, and Wu-Tang Clan's prodigy Shyheim. In the spring of 1997, Chong settled in London, England. His talents were soon recognized -- his spectacular 3D-animated and live-motion music video for Deni Hines' I Like The Way, garnered him a Best New Director nomination in the 1998 Creativity And Design Awards (CADs).

In 2000 Chong is cofounded the Virtua_LM mod team (www.virtua-lm.com) devoted to the creation of PC based sim racing video game mods. He build the global team of 30+ active members. Their 2004 release Prototype-C was one of the top PC sim mod releases of that year with well over 100,000 downloads.

In 2001, after a several years of working on diverse media projects such as music videos, album artwork, a Nine Inch Nails concert film and motion graphics title sequences Chong created, with the label Dance.com and London DVD House The Pavement, two large scale experimental audio visual DVD projects: Speed Tribe and Male or Female. Pushing the limits of digital video, DVD interactivity and surround-sound, these projects redefine the DVD medium.

In 2003 Chong co-founded the Monkbot Digital Media collective, (www.monkbot.com) a group of 12 digital film-makers, designers, musicians, producers and technicians from across Europe and North America who joined forces to explore cross-media synergy on audio-visual projects. As co-creative director Rod directed and collaborated on a diverse range of project from a complete AV concept project for electronica legends Junkie XL, tv stingers for Hyundai’s Euro2004 sponsorship and title sequences for Canada’s Much Music News, Movies from Space and TSN’s Hockey Lives Here.

In summer 2004 Chong and Monkbot produced an attract video for the famed PC sim game GTR for Simbin AB. Interested in his combined skill in creative direction, motion graphics, music, film and video game modding, Rod was hired by Simbin as the Lead Producer/Designer on their 2005 PC sim game release GT Legends. Successfully completing this cult game, and after a short sting on the GTR2 project in Jan 2006 Rod relocated back to his native Vancouver, Canada to join EA as a producer/designer on the Need for Speed franchise.
