John Sutherland was a Game Writer and Story Doctor at Microsoft Game Studios from 1996 to 2010, when he launched VidGameStory.com, his own company with the mission to make game stories better throughout the industry.

His 2005 Gamasutra article on story structure in games started the industry-wide conversation on conflict-based story that continues to this day.
