Arkadi Natanovich Strugatsky (Аркадий Натанович Стругацкий, August 28, 1925 – October 12, 1991) was, together with his younger brother Boris, a renowned Soviet science fiction author. He was born in Batumi, Georgia, to a Jewish father and Russian mother, and later moved to St. Petersburg (then Leningrad). He was also an accomplished translator from Japanese.

Among Strugatsky's best-known works are futuristic novels in the Noon Universe cycle, such as Hard to be a God (1964), Prisoners of Power (1969), Beetle in the Anthill (1980), and others, as well as Roadside Picnic (1972), which was adapted into a movie (Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky) and later inspired the video game series S.T.A.L.K.E.R..
