In 1996, Klimon joined Simutronics to work on the hugely successful text-based MMO, GemStone III, eventually designing and implementing essential elements of both GemStone III and Hercules & Xena: Alliance of Heroes, a tie-in with Universal TV’s Hercules and Xena properties.
In 2004, TimeGate Studios released the real-time strategy games Kohan II: Kings of War and Axis & Allies, both of which featured the acclaimed adaptive strategic artificial intelligence system and the revolutionary random map generators that Klimon designed. Ian had joined TimeGate Studios in early 2001 as Lead Designer.
More recently, Klimon’s work on the Silent Hill: Homecoming proposal not only landed the deal for The Collective, but also garnered widespread praise within the Foundation 9 family of companies as the “gold standard” for business development proposals. Not long after, The Collective merged with Shiny Entertainment to become Double Helix Games. Before leaving Double Helix Games, Klimon created the proposal that landed the deal for the game based on the revamped G.I. Joe franchise and upcoming movie.
Klimon spent about a year and a half as the Academic Director for the Game Art & Design and Visual and Game Programming programs at the Art Institute of California - Orange County. Currently, he is the Director of Production for Encore in El Segundo, CA.
He earned his A.B. in Philosophy from Boston College, his M.A. in Ethical Studies from the University of Baltimore, and his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
