Depths of Peril is a single player action/RPG influenced heavily by turn based strategy games like Civilization. Your character takes lead of a fledgling Covenant (a faction or guild) in the barbarian city of Jorvik, where you compete or ally with other Covenants. These factions are the most unique aspect of Depths of Peril, adding a level of depth unusual in games of this genre. The player can negotiate trades for money or even items, start wars or form alliances, raid enemy Covenants or destabilize them with rumors. These other groups will also compete with the player to complete quests and win recruits, or can even adventure alongside the player.

Items and inventory are handled in much the same way as other action/RPGs. There are common items, rare items, uniques, set pieces, artifacts and so forth, all color coded for your convenience. Every item alters your character's appearance as well.

Depths of Peril does not support multiplayer, but it does allow you to export your character sheet in HTML and other formats to post on the internet, allowing for some ladder-style competition. Also, your character, Covenant and recruits can all be transferred to a new game when you win as well, allowing for a lot of replayability.

The fourth US release in the Ogre Battle series, The Knight of Lodis follows Alphonse, a young knight from the Holy Lodis Empire. Sent to the island of Ovis to investigate a series of unusual events, Alphonse begins to question his loyalty and purpose as a knight of Lodis, involving himself in a battle of epic proportions.

Tactics Ogre's gameplay is squad-based and turn-based, just like Final Fantasy Tactics, and, despite many RPG elements, the game almost entirely consists of combat. Aside from the main campaign, Tactics Ogre also offers a vs mode and Quest mode, in which the player must complete objectives they set themselves within a certain number of turns to earn rare items that can be used in the campaign mode. Finally, there is also an option to exchange characters and items between players with a link cable.

Added description to Cybernator · January 28, 2004

In a future where fossil fuels are limited, major countries and forces of the world are at war with one another over territory. Alliances are made, forming two major sides: The Axis and The Federation. The elite units in these wars are Assault Suits, man-piloted combat mechs called Assault Suits. Jake is one such pilot, drafted into the Pacific States' Marine Corp under the Federation. During his training, the war has grown substantially and upon being assigned to a platoon, he is immediately thrown into combat.

Cybernator is a side scrolling mech combat game and platform game. The player controls Jake as he moves his assault suit left and right on the battlefield. The assault suit can jump and use a jetpack for a short time to increase altitude. The assault suit begins with a Shot machine gun weapon that spreads out fire in front, and a Punch weapon for close melee. Additional weapons can be found during the course of the game and existing weapons improved by the gathering of "P" power-ups left by defeated enemies.

Each level contains a variety of enemies and an end boss which must be destroyed to reach the next level. Some levels take place as horizontally scrolling shooters, in which the Assault suit can move up, down, left and right on the screen, but is constantly advancing towards new threats.

The PlayStation 2 version is not a straight port or emulation of the original SNES game. It has altered visuals and balance tweaks, as well as a brief new stage at the beginning.
