Test Drive (Commodore 64)

The Best Commodore 64 Driving Game

The Good
I was amazed when I started loading this game and heard it playing music while loading. This was nothing compared the game itself. Sure you couldn’t upgrade your car, but this was the 80’s. You could pick your favorite car and out run the police, or at least try to. This game set the racing sim benchmark for years to come.

The Bad
Nothing.

The Bottom Line
The first real racing sim.

Star Trek: The Promethean Prophecy (Commodore 64)

A Great Star Trek Text Adventure

The Good
This game is a solid text adventure, not one of the best, but very good. However, it has to be one of the best Star Trek games ever created, not that that is saying much.

It has a great narrative, imaginative story line and good ending.

The Bad
The only real issue with this game is the difficulty. Granted I was 10 when I played it, but even after 100 hours (possibly more) I was never able to finish it. Years later I did go back and finish it in one sitting, but I still needed a guide to get me past one trouble spot.

The Bottom Line
This game really puts you into Captain Kirk's shoes. Oh ya, if you do play the game here’s a hint, there is a way past the quick sand, you just have to figure out what to use.
