Phyta (Windows)
A pleasant diversion, but no more
The Good
Phyta is a fairly unique sort of game, and it's always nice to see something new. The graphics were simple and lovely, and the growth of the plant was interesting to watch.
The Bad
Although I don't mind games without goals, I do like the game to have some sort of motivation--if I'm to explore, I'd like interesting places to explore, for example. Phyta doesn't provide any sort of motivation, and there's no reward for capturing the golden things, either. Too, the slow pace and lack of any direct control means the game isn't a very good candidate for self-imposed challenges, like speedruns. And, of course, there's no way to lose.
The Bottom Line
Phyta is a neat little toy, but that's all it is--not really a game. It's worth playing with for a few minutes, but I doubt it'll keep you coming back for more.
