Tekken 5 (PlayStation 2)

Not <b>another</b> mediocre Tekken game...

The Good
This game's graphics, music and controls were decent, and the game actually featured story battles, which enhanced the play experience a bit, but not by much. The gameplay is back to a one-on-one system, and the King of Iron Fist Tournament is back, but those are the game's only good attributes.

The Bad
On the other hand, but there was still no 8-way run, and it was still too short for me. This game is best left alone until it is in the bargain bin for < $20

The Bottom Line
This game is an improvement, but it still does not go down smoothly.

Deus Ex: Invisible War (Xbox)

This game Rawked

The Good
This game's gritty style and customization drew me in, and it's sidequests and civilians supply many chances for entertainment. Also, I have had many fun experiences with hunting down every last weapon, just cuz I'm a completion nut. The time it took to do that added a good 5+ hours to the game, and because of multiple pathways, Deus Ex: Invisible War has great replay value

The Bad
I found that I had to crank up my TV's brightness to see what was going on sometimes. However, this is a small price to pay for greatness.

The Bottom Line
This game is a sci-fi shooter's dream.

Nightcaster: Defeat the Darkness (Xbox)

Oh dear God it burns!

The Good
(User has opted to leave this box blank)

The Bad
This game had a very bad control scheme, worse story, and an even worse battle style. I was given this game for free, and now I think they should have paid me to take this game off their hands.

The Bottom Line
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME

GoldenEye: Rogue Agent (Xbox)

A mediocre shooting game at best, with some novel ideas...

The Good
I enjoyed the variety of weapons and the ability to dual-wield guns, as well as having the ability to use human shields, and toss people around by altering their magnetic fields... (what can I say? I'm a violent gamer!)

The Bad
The game had the traditional shooter's gameplay: shoot target A, move to point B, shoot target C...................

The Bottom Line
This game is OK, but it should be kept aside for multiplayer matches only.

Destroy All Humans! (Xbox)

Heh...

The Good
This game's take on the red scare and aliens in the 50s is quite funny, and as you run around the town you are currently exploring, its great to listen to the townspeople scream, or scan their minds for funny moments.

The Bad
My only problem with this game was the limits placed on your exploration. The game was separated into zones, instead of one big map, which would have been quite doable.

The Bottom Line
This game's LOL humor kept me entertained for a while, but overall, it was just too short.

SoulCalibur III (PlayStation 2)

transcending history, a tale of a great fighting game, eternally retold.

The Good
I thoroughly enjoyed Soul Calibur III. First off, it had a challenging, but not impossible, AI. Secondly, it allowed for a completely customized fighter, who could use styles not used by the main characters. Also, there is A STORY LINE, something most fighting games lack, or fail miserably at. As an added bonus, the game has a minigame called "Chronicle of the Sword", which is a basic RTS that had kept me occupied for hours at a time.

The Bad
I only wish that the game had a longer storyline.

The Bottom Line
This game is a great buy if you like fighting games.

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (PlayStation 2)

A great game with a long story

The Good
This game, like many of the ones I like to play, has a long, winding main quest, with a real-time battle system, and attacks being learned as you level up. The graphic style is quite interesting, and the story line is one that is affected by your choices. Also, this game has migrated to the bargain bins and clearance shelves, so it can be found for less than $20. A real steal.

The Bad
The only thing I don't like about this game is the rapid incline in the difficulty. An hour or two into the second disc, I was fighting things that had a maximum of 25k HP, and there was a boss with 50k HP. As soon as I beat that boss, the new opponents I faced, the COMMON opponents, mind you, had at least 38k HP and were attacking 2 at a time...

The Bottom Line
This game is for hardcore levelers, so the casual gamer should stay away.

Tekken Tag Tournament (PlayStation 2)

Meh... M-E-H Meh (translated: BORING!!!)

The Good
(User has opted to leave this box blank.)

The Bad
This game is not fun because it lacks several things. First, it lacks any form of 8-way run, which is prevalent in the fighting games i like to play. Second, the A.I. has a ridiculously high skill level, and routinely executes moves as a tag team, which are quite hard to perform. Finally, the game was a basic "beat ten people to fight the boss, and you win." game.

The Bottom Line
This game is a relatively poor choice, if you are looking for a fighting game. games like Soul Calibur 2 and 3 and the Budokai series are much more enjoyable.

Final Fantasy X-2 (PlayStation 2)

An overall good game, but...

The Good
The game's story and playability are phenomenal, and it has the ability to consume hours on end of my time. Also, since RPGs are my preferred genre, I have an almost instinctual appreciation for this game.

The Bad
On the other hand, I found that the ATB (Active Time Battle) system was a little too hard to adjust to. RPGs should either be turn-based or real-time when it comes to battle, not some weird combination of the two.

The Bottom Line
This game is good, but if you don't like variations and changes, then this may not be the game for you.

God of War (PlayStation 2)

Very gory.. but the more blood, the merrier I am!

The Good
This game was, to say the least, an entertaining trek through the world of Greek mythology. While platforming through a War-ravaged (LOL) Athens, you get to use all sorts of bloody fatalities, such as ripping an opponent in two, or impaling him on one of your chain blades, and swing him around in circles. The powers, while they were not as functional and useful as possible, were cool looking and could drastically change the way you played through.

The Bad
The game's cutscenes were too few, and some of them were annoying in that some of them consisted entirely of drawings, without any animation to speak of.

The Bottom Line
This game is great, so long as you don't mind the MK-style gore and the gut-wrenching fatalities.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Xbox 360)

Greatest game on the consoles

The Good
This is the best RPG I have ever played, and I am an RPG nut. The expanse covered in Oblivion, while not as big as the world in Morrowind, is still quite sizable, and the game developers used the space assigned to them to the maximum. This means that, while there is less land, there is more to do, and more to have fun with. Also, you can spend hours just trying to customize your character and his house - I spent an hour and a half trying to put my armor on display the right way! I used to be a Morrowind fan, but Oblivion definitely puts it to shame, not only expanding character customization, but allowing for a world that completely immerses the gamer. One could sit down and start a game at nine A.M., and the next time they look up, they will see it's night time. A surefire way to enjoy your PC or 360.

The Bad
...? not... like... oblivion???

The only problem was that it froze a few times, and that is not a problem if you save a lot.

The Bottom Line
This game is possibly THE best game I have ever played. It has consumed my life, and will continue to do so until they make an Elder Scrolls V.
