Overview edit · view history

Ruffian Games is a game development studio based in Dundee, Scotland. The formation was announced on 19th January 2009 and the company is headed by Gary Liddon. It is a reformation of Xen Services, Ltd.

When Midway Studios - Newcastle closed down in mid-2009, a large number of designers moved on to Ruffian. It also includes a number of people who previously worked at Realtime Worlds. That led to an awkward moment when Microsoft chose Ruffian to develop a sequel to the Realtime Worlds title Crackdown. Realtime initially offered to do a follow-up itself, but Microsoft couldn't predict the success of the title yet, leading Realtime to shift focus to the MMO APB: All Points Bulletin instead.

The company also worked on the cancelled Game of Glens (formerly announced as Tribal Towers).
