Bohemia Interactive is an independent game development studio that focuses on developing state of the art computer entertainment software and the research of advanced real time 3D graphics, artificial intelligence and physical simulation technologies for real-time interactive environments.

In 2001, Bohemia Interactive finished the development of Operation Flashpoint. The debut game of Bohemia Interactive, published by Codemasters, immediately became the No. 1 selling game in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia, Czech Republic and other countries. The development team continued to support the game with regularly released upgrades and patches over the internet and prepared a special US version of the game. It launched in September 2001 and it also became one of the best selling games in the US. Operation Flashpoint has won many accolades including Game of The Year and Best Action Game. Over 1.2 million copies of Operation Flashpoint have been sold since its release.

In December 2001, Bohemia Interactive opened a studio in Australia and started the development of special military training simulation program VBS1 in cooperation with U.S. based Coalescent Technologies. VBS1 is already being used as a training tool by the U. S. Marine Corps. and various other military organizations are looking into possible implementation of VBS1 into their training programs.

Bohemia Interactive's research and development team has more than 25 experienced game developers. It’s based in Prague, Czech Republic with development studios in the Czech Republic as well as Australia. Bohemia Interactive Studio has won Best PC Game Developer of the year 2001 award at London’s exhibit ECTS and Rookie Studio of the Year award at GDC 2002.

On 28th March 2014 the acquisition of the Slovakian development studio Cauldron Ltd. was announced. It was renamed Bohemia Interactive Slovakia.

Bohemia Interactive Studio acquires its co-members at IDEA Games: Altar Games, Black Element Software and Centauri Production s.r.o..

All four development studios persist individually and continue their regular operations as part of Bohemia Interactive Studio.

December 19, 2005

The company announces the creation of the Independent DEvelopers Association (IDEA), together with ALTAR interactive and Black Element Software. The aim is to give indie developers a better change to compete with big publishers by combining resources.
