Overview edit · view history

Edusoft was formed in France in about 1990. The company published and developed educational and reference software for home and school use in France and other French-speaking countries.

On August 12, 1996, the company was acquired by SoftKey International, Inc. SoftKey International changed its official company name to The Learning Company, Inc. in October 1996, and also renamed Edusoft to TLC-Edusoft.

In 1997 TLC-Edusoft was located in Malakoff, France, but by 1999 it had moved to Boulogne Billancourt, France, and was responsible for the distribution of all The Learning Company, Inc.'s products to French-speaking countries. The company was also listed as a publisher on many titles. TLC-Edusoft Canada was its sister subsidiary, located in Longueuil, Quebec, also owned by The Learning Company, Inc.

Mattel, Inc., the toy company, acquired all of The Learning Company, Inc. on May 13, 1999, and TLC-Edusoft was renamed Mattel Interactive France / TLC-Edusoft.

Then Gores Technology Group acquired all of The Learning Company properties from Mattel in October, 2000. In September 2001 TLC-Edusoft was sold with other Learning Company educational subsidiaries by Gores Technology to Riverdeep Interactive Learning Limited and was absorbed into the Brøderbund label.
