WildTangent is based in Redmond, Washington and was founded in 1998. It is an online game publisher offering more than a 1,000 games on its portal website. Since 1999 the company also has an in-house development studio. The game studio is led by A. J. Redmer, while Alex St. John led the entire company. From 1999 to 2008, the development division created around 30 to 35 games, but only three in the last three years. Because of that in October 2008 it was announced Alex St. John would step down and twenty employees were laid off (with 80 remaining).
