Break into Tom Nook's store at night

Hitting the entrance to Tom Nook's store at night with a shovel 5 times will cause Tom Nook to open his store. When you enter, he will be wearing pyjamas, and will generally be tired, walking and talking slowly. He will also charge you more to purchase his items, and will give you less for selling your items. Upon leaving he will tell you to return in the morning next time before closing his store again. This feature was rumoured to be in the original Animal Crossing game as well as the Nintendo DS sequel Animal Crossing: Wild World, but both have been proven false.

Reset Surveillance Center

If the player hits the rocks in their town with a shovel, there is a possibility that one of the rocks might crack, leaving a hole which leads to the Reset Surveillance Center. The Reset Surveillance Center is home to Mr Resetti and his brother Don, who will appear outside the player's house to lecture them if they turn the game off without saving. Inside, the player will find Mr Resetti watching TV; if the player talks to him, he will tell them that they aren't allowed inside and that they should leave. If the player enters a second time, both Resetti and Don will be present, and talking to them will trigger a cutscene in which an alarm starts going off, and Resetti quickly launches out of the premises. This feature was rumoured to be in the original Animal Crossing game as well as the Nintendo DS sequel Animal Crossing: Wild World, but both have been proven false. The Reset Surveillance Center would later re-appear in Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, although it would be accessed in different ways.
