Description
The original commercially-licensed version of
Alexey Pajitnov's classic Tetris puzzle game. Geometric shapes fall from the top of a playfield to rest on the bottom; fit the pieces together, and the line they form disappears. If the pieces don't form lines and eventually stack up to the top of the playfield, the game is over. Difficulty increases by dropping the pieces faster and faster over time.
Tetris is a verifiable classic game, translated to well over 200 electronic and computer platforms. It takes 2 minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master.

Trivia
The NES version of Tetris was available in two different releases, one by Tengen and one by Nintendo. After an extensive legal battle, it was decided Tengen did not have the rights to distribute Tetris for the NES and was ordered to cease distribution of the game. All of the unsold copies are believed to have been destroyed making the Tengen release of Tetris one of the more uncommon NES games (which is unfortunate since the Tengen release is usually considered the better of the two.)
