Riot Games, Inc. is a US game development studio founded by Brandon Beck and Mark Merrill in 2006.

In February 2011 Chinese online services company Tencent acquired a majority stake in the company. Previously, Tencent already signed a Chinese distribution deal for Riot's League of Legends in November 2008 and in September 2009 Tencent became an investor in the company, alongside Benchmark Capital and FirstMark Capital. By February 2011 the other investors were bought out.
