Overview edit · view history
Vivendi Universal Games España was a Spanish company. It was established in 1990 as Coktel Educative, originating from a joint venture between French developer Coktel Vision and its Spanish distributor, SYSTEM 4 de España. The company was established with the aim of localizing and adapting Coktel Vision’s educational software for the Spanish market.
Initially known as Coktel Educative, the company focused on distributing educational titles, particularly those developed by Coktel Vision. A significant turning point came in late 1994, when Coktel Vision was acquired by American game publisher Sierra On-Line. Following this acquisition, Coktel Educative took over the distribution of Sierra’s titles in Spain, previously handled by Erbe Software.
However, for reasons that remain unclear, the company drastically reduced its promotional activities with the Spanish gaming magazine Micromania. It ceased regular advertising and stopped sending review copies of its games to the magazine around 1998. This decision significantly impacted the visibility and public awareness of its products in the Spanish market.
In 1999, the company underwent a rebranding and became Havas Interactive España S.L., aligning with the broader consolidation of Sierra and other Vivendi-owned interactive media entities under the Havas Interactive umbrella.
The company played a key role in bringing well-known educational titles to Spanish audiences during the 1990s and participated in the broader evolution of the European edutainment and gaming landscape through its affiliation with prominent international publishers.
