John Carpenter is best known for his work as a film director. He has also played a part in the development of the video game F.E.A.R. 3 where he was involved in creating the cinematics elements.
The 2002 video game The Thing was based on his 1982 movie. Carpenter provided the voice for a minor character in the game (uncredited). Carpenter is a fan of video games including the Silent Hill series and has expressed an interest in directing a film based on Dead Space, and creating an original video game if he gets the opportunity to do so.
