I am learning spanish. No, seriously I am. For the past 4 months, in a language school. I was thinking that maybe listening to some spanish would actually help, like watch a good spanish movie or tv series. So my question - teneis recomendaciones?

Some Spanish language films I greatly enjoyed:

El laberinto del fauno
Amores perros
Abre los ojos
Diarios de motocicleta
El Norte
El secreto de sus ojos
Hable con ella

As for series, well, I don't know if you enjoy that kind of humor, but El Chavo del Ocho can't be recommended enough. =)

Thank you. I've seen Pan's Labyrinth. Obviously a must for anyone who likes fantasy. :)

I am more interested in spanish tv actually. I am willing to watch even telenovelas. Or any other sort of light popular entertainment.

Those just sound naughty.

I seem to recall Y tu mama también. As I recall, that actually was naughty.

El Chavo del Ocho doesnt sound naughty, but sounds like the chav equivalent of The Magnificent Seven.

The title means "The kid from #8." It's a sitcom about an orphaned boy who lives in a barrel.

It's hard to explain.

So I take it is really popular?

[Q --start Happy Rabbi wrote--]So I take it is really popular? [/Q --end Happy Rabbi wrote--]Hugely popular in all Latin America. Recently the actor who created the character (and many others), Roberto Gómez Bolaños, died and it was a big commotion. There are even games based on El Chavo (though this specific game is based on the animated series that was based on the sitcom) and on El Chapulín Colorado, another character by Gómez Bolaños. El Chapulín is another recommendation: he's a superhero in a grasshopper costume witha toy mallet by weapon. When I was a kid I enjoyed El Chavo's humor better than Chapulín's. Today I enjoy them both equally.

Actually sounds kind of interesting. Now if only I could remember my 4 years worth of Spanish from my school days.

Have you considered any spanish-language text adventures or hispanic gaming otherwise?

La abadía del crimen seems to be regarded as a classic.

Keeping in mind that I'm a native Spanish speaker, Unepic's script is a colossal pain in the ass. Not only is it Spain Spanish, it's filled with nerd colloquialisms that make the text incredibly dense and hard to grasp.

I REALLY HATE Spain Spanish.
