Description

NHL 96 was the first EA Sports game to feature Virtual Stadium technology, which resulted in a 3D feel and multiple camera angles. The NHL license ensures that real teams and players of the era are included, with a full league and playoff system. Many game options can be toggled - the infamous fighting is optional, as are the penalties and offsides. The control system makes it possible to execute one-touch passes, and several special trick moves to quickly advance the ball. As a bonus feature, it included Hockey Card profiles of every player on CD and interviews with the stars of the game.

The best sportsgame ever!!

The Good
The gameplay is the best I ever saw in a computer game. The 96er NHL Hockey is the best, because the later editions are not so realistic like this one. The goalies are good, the AI is great and the feeling is unsurpassable. There are also all great NHL-Stars included (Gretzky, Messier, Lemieuxm, Lindros, Jagr, etc.). The option screens are clear and the music is still great. The graphics in a match looks very good and with the speech during the game you forget playing a computer game!

The Bad
For me there are too many fights, and this means there are too many 5 minute penalties in the game! Otherwise there is nothing to criticism.

The Bottom Line
The NHL series from EA Sports is another class and can't be verify with other hockey games.
