- Tails' Skypatrol (1995 on Game Gear)
Description
Tails' Skypatrol is a simple handheld game that was included in McDonalds' Happy Meals.
The game comes in a small plastic case with an embossed the principle character. The game is played on a small LCD screen measuring 2cm by 1.5cm which has a fixed cloudscape background. This is a side scrolling game in which the player controls Tails who appears on the right of the screen. A series of rings scroll in from left to right and the player's task is to collect them by moving Tails up/down by means of the two buttons to the right of the screen. Collecting thirty rings completes the level, the next level will be exactly the same but faster, missing ten rings means Game Over.
The game has sound, a regular bleep which increases when the game sped picks up, and short tunes for game over and end of level.
The game has an irregular shape but measures approx 7.5cm wide, 6cm top to bottom and 1.5cm deep. There are two buttons on the front for up/down movement, and an on/off switch at the back. It is powered by a single L736H button battery which is held securely in a cage from which it cannot be removed..
