Quartet
Player Reviews
Average score: 3.0 out of 5 (based on 5 ratings with 1 reviews)
The Good
Pretty faithful conversion from the arcade version. Catchy music.
The Bad
Annoying enemies. Some obstacles are annoying. Bosses are annoying. Only two players can play at a time, no third or forth player support available.
The Bottom Line
Quartet was a obstacle jump and run shooter that came out around the time of Afterburner. I believe it was SEGA's answer to Gauntlet as you could control 4 different players, and yes they each were associated with a primary color. The more points you scored by killing enemies and snagging power-ups and prizes the more points you got to your energy stockpile. Being hit by enemy fire or touching an enemy would make your points dwindle and when they were all gone, the game ended. Well the SMS version had all this minus the Blue and Yellow players from the arcade. That is right its only the Red player (Mary) and the green player (Edgar) in this game. The story in both versions is that space pirates have attacked some space colony and its up to the Quartet to save the universe by fighting all the foes and getting the power-ups and other game goodies until the reach the boss and kill him to get the key for the next level. Pretty straightforward.
