Description

Agori Defender is a Flash game that was created to promote the 2010 LEGO BIONICLE products and storyline. It is a tower defense game in which the player must strategically place hero units such as Toa and Glatorian around each level to prevent the armies of Makuta Teridax from reaching Agori settlements. Destroying enemies rewards protodermis points that can be used to purchase additional units and upgrades. Protodermis points can also be spent to directly cast status effects on the battlefield with Tahu's Golden Armor, damaging enemies independently of placed units. If enough of Teridax's minions get past the defenders and reach the Agori settlement, the level is lost.

Each of the purchasable units have unique damage perks. They are:

  • Tahu, a Toa of Fire and bearer of the Golden Armor. He costs 5 protodermis and his perk is Armor Destruction.
  • Strakk (misspelled Straak), a disgraced Ice Tribe Glatorian. He costs 10 protodermis and his perk is Slow Enemies.
  • Gresh, a Jungle Tribe Glatorian with air powers. He costs 20 protodermis and his perk is Confusion.
  • Malum, a nomadic former Glatorian of the Fire Tribe. He costs 40 protodermis and his perk is Damage.
  • Takanuva, a Toa of Light and an old enemy of Teridax. He costs 60 protodermis and his perk is Light.

The game has six levels and the player starts each level with 1500 Agori. Whenever an enemy reaches the Agori settlement, the Agori count is reduced by 100. If all Agori are lost, it's game over. The game tracks the number of Agori saved and defenders created, displaying these stats at the end of each level.

Defenders level up as they destroy enemies, becoming more costly to unlock with each level gained along with their upgrades. The maximum level that a defender can reach is 5. The attributes that can be upgraded are the defenders' Range, Firepower, and Fire Rate (which by default cost 10, 20, and 30 protodermis to unlock, respectively). Defenders can be moved freely around the battlefield.

The game's story is presented in cutscenes that play after the first and sixth levels, though the game is not considered canonical to the BIONICLE storyline.
