This box was hard to get hold of. US residents could only buy it from in New York Pokemon Center or from the online store, while Europeans had to purchase it through the Nintendo of Europe loyalty program or as an included game with the Pokémon Colosseum GameCube Mega Pack.

Pokémon Box: Ruby & Sapphire was a runner up to Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising in the 2003 Golden Joystick Awards for Handheld Game of the Year.
