Moby ID: 166987

Description

Finley The Fire Engine: Friendlyville Fun is a collection of mini games aimed at young children and is based on a UK BBC cartoon series from 2007. All the activities are big, bright, colourful and are played with the mouse. They all have a help screen but this has to be read as the game has no voiced assistance and no manual. The game does have sound effects, a theme tune, and occasional voice clips including Finley's catchphrase 'Tyreiffic' whenever a game is completed successfully. The activities are; Poles & Ladders: This is a variation on the board game Snakes and Ladders* for one to four players. There are two boards to play on one is the traditional layout while the other uses fireman's poles and ladders.

  • Meet The Cast: All the characters are lined up and greyed out. As the cursor moves over them they say their catchphrase and a one or two sentence description pops up at the bottom of the screen.
  • Soccer Maze: This game is a little like Pac-Man. It is played on a football pitch on which are cones and footballs. The players objective is to collect footballs before they are caught, opponents can be blocked by rearranging the cones.
  • Pairs: This is a Concentration game in which cards are dealt face down and the player must identify all matching pairs. This game can be played as a single player game, against the computer or against another player.
  • Sequences: This is a Simon Says game with three levels of difficulty.
  • Wordsearch: This game has fifteen word search puzzles ranging from easy, tricky to hard, the hardest puzzles only use five letter words.
  • Print & Colour: A series of line drawings to be, well, printed and coloured in. There is no on-screen colouring option.
  • Spot The Difference. Ten puzzles showing pairs of pictures of Finley and his friends where there are five differences in each pair. The player highlights the differences with the mouse. On completion the game tells the player which, if any, of the highlighted differences are incorrect.

The game menu in a fixed sized window in a black rectangle that sits in the centre of the screen and cannot be moved. The games had some compatibility issues but when they run they run in full screen mode. There are no in-game configuration options to change the volume, toggle the sound, etc.
