Description

In 1231, Lord Finning, leader of the Ormus Cult, takes the black urn hidden by Lord Marox. With it he thinks he can become even more powerful and summons Azerus, the Demon of Embers at the next full moon. A flash of lightning illuminates the clearing where the Lord is, and the creature appears. Frightened, Finning flees. At the same time, King Argon dies. Beryland's throne is empty and must be filled again. Years later you receive a message from your dear friend Lord Narod, highlord and loyal member of the Royal Council. In a short letter he explains the current situation and what happened during the past few months. He urges a request that your presence is needed at the palace. The object of the game is to collect enough points in order to become the new king and to be crowned by Sir Gilligan in the King's Palace.

The Ormus Saga III: The Final Chapter is a roleplaying game where the player moves about an overland 2D scrolling area, and can visit cities and other places of interest as well as temples, castles and villages. Like its predecessor, there are various places to visit, among others shops offering healing, weapons, armour and other items, to recruit troops and inns to stay to regain health or buy food. NPC's can hold valuable information that can help to succeed in your quest to save the world from Azerus and become the next king.

To collect enough scorepoints to be the next king, you need to complete the 15 tasks in one year, collect treasures, conquer the towns or cities that have been taken by the Ormus Cult, finding objects in cities, dungeons, castles, etc, getting ranks and titles and gaining a game level.

At the start of the game you can create your own character or simply start with the pre-made one. When you start the game you are in front of the King's Palace. The player controls the movements of the hero with the joystick controls. The FIRE BUTTON brings up an icon bar menu system at the bottom of the screen in which all actions can be performed. (Attack, Enter, Board Ship, Open Door, Unlock Door, Search, Talk, Attack City, Send Troops, Light Torch, Climb, Inventory, Ready Item, Cast Spell, Use item, View Map, Yell/Pray, Pass, Time/Date, Look, Disk Options)

To attack, select the "Attack" option and then use the cursor to select which enemy to attack for experience and gold. Weapons differ in range and strength.

The option "View Map" shows your current position only once. The maps can be found in chests or bought at a shop. Sometimes you will find locked magic doors. The only way to open them is by buying keys at a shop. Then you can use the "Unlock Door" option. "Time Date" will give you the exact date and time. Equipping or changing your armor and/or weapon can be done with the "Ready Item" option.

Like in the previous game, you can hire troops at the Recruiting Office and equip them with weapons. Throughout the game you will come across a village or city that is "++OCCUPIED++". The only way to use its services is to retake it with your troops. If you have enough troops, you can use the "Attack City" option. Occasionally, a friendly city, village or the King's Palace is being randomly attacked by enemy forces. To prevent it being captured you need to station your own troops in cities not occupied by the enemy, using the "Send Troops" option. If the King's Palace has been captured the game is over.

For every conquered place you'll get reputation points. When enough reputation points you will rise in the title ranking each time. Only a Highlord from the Royal Council can give the new title to the player.

If a place is re-captured by the Ormus Cult you'll loose all the reputation points from the place, but will keep the title.

With the "Search" option you cannot only examine an adjacent field, but also find secret doors in castles, cities and dungeons. The "Inventory" option provides information about the current constitution of the player and all of the troops' weapons. Use the "Yell/Pray" to call names or words or praying to the gods.

It also supports Save/Load functions with the "Disk Options".
