Dog Sled Ambassadors
Description
Dog Sled Ambassadors is a 1-player educational game for the Apple II.
The player sets out by dog sled journey from Beringia International Park headquarters in Nome, Alaska. The player's goal is to travel along the Bering Sea coast, and accept the gift of an artifact from the elder of each village for the park's exhibit at the headquarters in Nome. The player starts their journey March 1, and must return to Nome by April 15. Trip difficulty is determined by collecting 2, 3, or 4 artifacts.
To prepare for their trip, the player must choose their teammate from 6 choices and their dogsled team of 5 dogs from 8 choices. Each teammate and dog has different skills, and the dogs can be placed in different positions. The player must also choose their equipment and plan the route of their trip. The player travels through Alaska on a variety of trails, and can encounter a number of hazards including lost dogs, bad weather, and other dangers. When the player visits a town, they can speak with the villagers to learn about native Alaskan culture, review trail conditions, weather, purchase supplies, rest, eat, or camp.
