Alphabet
Description
Alphabet is described by its creators as a 'massively single-player offline game'. It is a racing game for one to 26 players and consists of ten levels. In each one a number of letters need to be guided to a finish. Each letter is controlled by the corresponding key on the keyboard, so if the levels starts with the letters E, B, N, O and R as characters, those keys need to be pressed to make the characters jump forward. Keys can be held to make the characters run and they jump when the key is released.
Levels gradually start with more letters so many different keys need to be pressed. Letters can bump into each other and push each other forward. There are also small platform elements such as moving obstacles, barriers, platforms and slopes so the levels resemble obstacle courses. Along the way different types of fruit can be picked up that act as power-ups. Such a power-up briefly turns all characters into the same letter, making it easier to make them all move forward with only a single key.
The game keeps track of the fastest time per level. All levels can be selected and replayed from the main menu.
The game has never been released standalone. It was initially part of LA Game Space: Experimental Game Pack 01 (2013), a compilation exclusive to backers of the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for LA Space that was eventually also made available for free in 2018. It was also part of The 2016 Fantastic Arcade Bundle (2016).
