Penny's Arcade

Pennny's Arcade is a shareware shooting game based on the kind of game that one imagines could be found in American fairs and shooting arcades.

This is a mouse controlled game with basic sound effects for both the gun shooting and other sounds when a target is hit. The game is played on a fixed screen with eight games on it, they are;* Duck Pond: This is in the top left and the target is a single duck that travels left and right within its window

• Bouncing Balls: This is in the upper left, immediately below Duck Pond, and consists of three balls which bounce left and right
• The Great Race: This occupies a window in the centre left of the screen. In it are a car, an aeroplane and a ship. When the player shoots and hits a target all the targets start moving however the player's target will stop moving unless it is hit repeatedly, first target to cover the distance wins

On the lower left are three games which take up less space

• Red Light Green Light: This is a traffic light whose colours change when hit
• Flags of the World: Four rotating flags (USA, UK, France and Japan) which rotate faster when one is hit
• Clowning Around: Here the targets are six clowns in two rows of three which are knocked down when hit and which reset when the last one falls.
• Rocket To The Stars: This is a vertical game just right of the centre. There is a single rocket at the bottom of the window and this rises a short distance when it is hit, the object here being to hit it repeatedly to take it to the top
• Finally, over on the left and occupying the largest window is Balloon Festival. Here balloons float from the bottom to the top and burst when hit

The player can practice playing these games but to play the game as intended they must first register their name, choose their skill level from the four available, their ammunition (buckshot covers a wider area of the target than a BB pellet), and buy a ticket. The game then offers a cuddly toy as a prize and gives the player a task such as;* Hit the duck seven times in ten shots

• Hit six balls in nine shots
• Win a race in eleven shots

Completing the task earns the player points, failing costs a ticket and when the player uses up all their tickets the game is over. The game supports four player identities but only one player can play at a time.

The full game was released as shareware but not all features were available, these could be unlocked by registering the game, paying the appropriate fee in return for which the unlock code would be given.
