Death Cruise
Description
Death Cruise is a 1 - 4 player text adventure and puzzle for the Dragon 32/64.
There is murder afoot on the high seas. It is the maiden voyage of the luxury liner Pacific 1. Amongst the passengers is His Royal Highness King David, whose security is the player's responsibility. Five days into the voyage, miles from the nearest shore, the player receives a telegram that the fanatical Mr. Sinister has brought a bomb aboard the vessel and disguised himself as a passenger or a member of the crew. To save the king, crew, and passengers, the player must find the bomb, the room where the detonator is planted, and identify Mr. Sinister.
The goal is to successfully identify Mr Sinister, which of the 25 rooms on the Pacific 1 has the bomb detonator, and what item is masquerading as the bomb. The player travels between 25 rooms spread over 5 decks of the ship. All commands are via text input, and the screen displays the deck, location, objects and people in the room, and items and people being carried. There are 2 separate programs with different rules: a single player version where the player has limited turns to solve the puzzle, and a mutliplayer game where the first person to solve the puzzle wins. The player can carry 1 - 2 items and take a single person with them. The player can encounter an assassin, and if they don't have bullets, it's game over. Once the player has determined the crime, they can accuse by being in the correct room with the correct person and item. If they are incorrect, the game is lost.
