Star Wars: Jedi Mind Tricks
Description
Star Wars: Jedi Mind Tricks is a match-three puzzle game based on the Star Wars license.
Unlike in Bejeweled and similar titles, adjacent tokens on the board are not flipped but instead one token is thrown to the edge of the board, with the remaining tiles shifting accordingly. Matching three of the same removes them from the board, matching four removes the entire column or row and matching five gains the player an extra turn.
Tokens include Force and Attack tokens that come in three colors: blue, green and red. Blue tokens favor Jedi, red tokens favor Sith and green ones work equally for both sides. Special tokens include crates that can be moved but not matched, thermal detonators that explode when thrown and remove all adjacent tokens, and bacta tanks which heal the player when matched.
There are two types of game: challenge and battle. In challenges, the goal is to remove a given number of tokens of each color in a limited number of turns. Battles are duels against another character and are won by depleting the enemy of their health. This is done by removing attack tokens, but attacking reduces the Force rush meter. Removing Force tokens increases the Force rush meter, that when full, increases the damage multiplier. Attempting an illegal move that won't result in removed tokens also reduces the Force rush.
The Force also comes into play with Force points. These surround the game board and are activated by throwing a token at them. Once three adjacent ones are activated, a Force wall forms. When another token is thrown against this wall, the player character's Force power is activated. The power is different for each character and either removes all tokens of a certain type in the area covered by the wall or changes their color or type. In addition, each character has a unique special skill that changes the rules in their favor.
Besides a tutorial, the game consists of Campaign and Arcade modes. Campaign consists of a series of missions for each character (both challenges and battles) selected on a planet map. The campaign culminates in a battle against the player character's destined enemy. At the start, players can choose between Ahsoka Tano and Asajj Ventress. Further characters are unlocked by completing a campaign.
Arcade modes allows single challenges, series of battles either in Arena or Survival mode (in the latter, health isn't restored after a battle) or a single battle against a chosen charater in Versus mode
