wild woody is wildly entertaining

The Good
Wild Woody (WW) is one of the few side-scrolling, platforming games that attempts to fully utilise the Sega CD hardware capabilities. This game is not shovelware by any means.

To begin with the CIG story sequences are great - for the system - and help to tell an original, even funny, story.

The in-game graphics are also great, and the control mechanics are smooth and easy to learn. In keeping with the pencil mottif, our hero's regular and special attack moves are all wonderfully designed.

The Bad
It is hard to find serious fault with this game. It is not any easy game to complete, but it never becomes unfairly difficult.

The Bottom Line
Wild Woody is wildly entertaining. Sadly, the game was released when frustration for the Sega CD's limitations and extensive library of shovelware had sealed the system's doom. Hopefully, the gaming world has not the last of Wild Woody or the creative people who gave the character life.
