Vivisector: Beast Within
Trivia
German version
In the German version, all blood and gore effects were removed and killed enemies disappear almost instantly. Also two sources for experience points were removed: "Vivisektor" (knife kills) and "Fatality" (awarded for spectacular kills). A detailed list of changes can be found on schnittberichte.com (German).
Inspiration
The working title for the game was Vivisector: Creatures of Dr. Moreau as it was partly inspired by H. G. Wells' famous 1896 novel The Island of Dr. Moreau. The events of the game are set 100 years after those in the novel, on the same island and still feature similar experimental human-animal hybrids. The game also has a similarly named renegade geneticist: "Dr. Morhead", whose hybrid soldiers are fighting against the corrupt general that ordered their creation.
