Restoration of a Canonical game

The Good
The genuine animations restored. The real possibility of ending the game without throwing your keyboard throughout the window. The gameplay customization.

The Bad
I don't know. Too short? I mean, in the easy mode. But do I have the right to demand for more? This was a handmade full animation made in 1983...!!!

The Bottom Line
Despite all the faults of this game even being criticized with the eyes of a 21th century player, you have to understand this:

  • the original game was created 32 years ago.
  • the animation is all handmade and it's spectacular and was illustrated by ex-Disney's Don Bluth and was created specifically for the game.
  • now imagine playing this when the best of contemporary arcades was Star Wars... err... well, Star Wars was also awesome, but imagine playing this among the traditional arcade games of the beginning of the 80s.
  • This was one of the inspirations to Eric Chahi's masterpiece "Another World".
  • This was one of the marks for the "interactive cinema" genre and for the principle of "cinematics" in games.
  • this is part of Videogame history.
