Second Conflict
Description
Second Conflict is a turn-based strategy game. The setting is a war for the neutral Altarian sector which shortly before declared their independence from the Imperium (which was formed after the so-called first conflict). Now various Empire factions battle for control over Altarian.
The only graphical element is the map of the star system where the planets can be selected with the mouse. Everything else is done in menu screens which can be accessed over the command bar. The basic gameplay loop: At the start of each turn, each star system receives points which are calculated from the number of factories and morale. Those points are used to build units (ships and defenses). Those units can be sent to other systems in order to conquer them. Combat results are calculated without further player input.
The winner of the match is the faction with the most points after the match has ended. Said end comes when all human players are defeated, only one active player is left, the turn limit was reached or when a player achieves an optional victory term (can be set in the match setup). Reaching this victory term wins a lot of points, but does not guarantee overall victory. A game has between two and ten factions and all of them can be human.
