Description

Tube is a little known game from Bullfrog which, according to Home of the Underdogs (see links) was originally intended to be a test for a new Bullfrog employee.

A unique concept in itself, Tube utilizes an old demo trick to simulate an endless forward-moving tunnel, along with some neat vector effects to simulate a long race track of sorts. In a nutshell you have to pick up speed in order to beat the track before your time runs out; you also have to destroy various obstacles in your way and collect weapon upgrades.

This game was never made into a title by Bullfrog and was released as a freeware game -- see trivia.

Truly Amazing...

The Good
The graphics are nice...but I love the smooth turns, spirals, and zig-zags. The gameplay's pretty good, but this is the type of game that although you play and try to get past the levels, you can just waste a few minutes in the morning or before bed. And the music, the music is great! It's a pity they never released it, with some more additions, it probably would have sold pretty well.

The Bad
They're aren't enough levels.

The Bottom Line
Well, I haven't actually described the game. You control a sort of hover craft on a floating highway in space, the highway was not meant to be efficient as it takes some pretty crazy turns and loops. There is sometimes stuff on the highway, sticky stuff that slows you down, speed bumps, and little gates that open and close. The enemies consist of little guys that get in your way, to ones that shoot you, to big ones that swarm around you. Definitely worth a try.
