Trivia

An adaptation of Nellan is Thirsty, a program predating it by nearly a quarter of a century, this game not only makes the claim that its predecessor was the first (1980) text adventure game designed specifically to be played by small children, but that it is now "the first text adventure game ever to be completely rewritten with a modern graphical user interface." (I think he overlooks the PSX and Saturn adaptations of Zork 8) The basic premise of the adaptation is that it's a pity today's children would never otherwise be exposed to Nellan is Thirsty not only due to the extinction of the TRS-80 and C64 platforms but due to an incompatibility of the text parser to small children in today's intuitive no-typing-needed era of GUI computing environments.
