Worms in realtime with smooth engine and great particles/physics! Amazing fun and great for a freeware game!!!

The Good
It's like worms but realtime, the screen is devided in two parts and you play against the computer or another player. The best thing is that it is really fun with smooth scrolling and great particle/physics engine!!! Try to play with the ninja rope or the weapon called Fan. Just try to shoot a worm or beelow your feet with the Shotgun and see the blood spoiled like particles or better go to the options and choose "Reloading:0%" and choose some weapons like Big Nuke or Banana Bomb and hold down the fire key until death to see how many 2d particles and total chaos there will be!!! Amazing 2d game!!! Especially if it is freeware and so small.. It has also great sound effects! And a level editor. Great for 2 players game! There are also diferrent kind of games like "Capture the Flag" and other stuff I don't remember.. And too many weapons!

The Bad
Still only 2players support. No music yet. It crashes sometimes (freeze!) without reason.. (But I hope that there will be newer versions of Liero because the game must have some fans now, as I see that many people get in my webpage searching for Liero while most of my page is not Liero oriented..)

The Bottom Line
It's freeware, it's like worms but in realtime combat, it has great particle/physics engine and total chaos of particles!!! It's on of these freeware/shareware games which don't have the so great gfx and sound but have really funny gameplay! Amazing game for a freeware!

One of the best games I know of

The Good
Liero has a fantastic physics engine, written by Joosa a few years ago, wich is the main reason for its success. It also has 40 diffrent weapons, all well balanced and neat. Anything from Fan to Flamer in there. Guidable missiles and smaller fast fireing rockets. Anything you want. And now some cool dudes have hacked in on the .exe and found a way to edit the weapons, so now you can make you own weapons too! There are more than one level editor today. There is the standard editor wich comes with the game. Then there is Wormhole, WorldDigger, LevTools and most recently, LieroKit wich only converts BMP files to .lev. But still great. New editors are coming. Then there are sound editors so that you can edit the sounds in Liero, and there are graphic editors to change the moving objects in Liero. You can even alter the palettes and change the colors if you want. On that you can edit fonts, set the bloodrate to 37000% instead of normal maximum 500%. And much more...! AND Liero2 is on its way and it will support multiplay over the net... so join a clan or something, coz Liero is getting BIG!!!

The Bad
Not much I dont like. It can freeze from time to time and there is a conventional memory problem for some. But Liero is suprisingly bug free.

The Bottom Line
A great game with lots of action and blood. You can play tactical or spray n' pray... its all up to you!!!! (Quoted Spray n' pray from Korivak)

Best game on my (old) PC!!!!

The Good
The fact I can run this on my old win3.1 PC, and the fact that this is like Worms (my favourite game), except it's a RTS, are some reasons I like this game. The graphics are good for a DOS game, and the gameplay is excellent. The selection of weapons is also good, with many weapons not available on Worms.

The Bad
The computer player isn't very good, and is a misfit in an otherwise cool game. Also, some of the more explosive weapons slow the game down when they explode (well on my PC anyway!). Finally, the rope could be less realistic and more like the Worms World Party ninja rope

The Bottom Line
Brilliant game when you have a mate around, with many weapons to destroy you. Great to play if ya need to release anger or have a few minutes spare!

The Greatest freeware game available on net

The Good
Great graphics, Variety of weapons each having its own uniqueness,

The Bad
So addictive, you really can't resist

The Bottom Line
Liero is a really addictive game. But don't play with the computer . First read its text file and than find someone whom you can teach how to play. Than all the fun starts. The game is so addictive try to leave it playing atleast a month before your exams. It is basically a worm game in which you and your opponent are worms trying to kill each other. Both the players play simultaneously with both the sets of controls on the keyboard only. There are more than 15 weapons to choose from. I had played it so many times(may be 250) but still haven't used so many weapons. The controls are really cool.
