Description official descriptions

A fairly faithful take on the Space Invaders concept: once again, a rampaging alien army takes issue with the Earth's continued existence, and seeks to rectify the problem by throwing bombs at it. Mankind is not thrilled with these reengineering efforts, and so the player assumes control of Earth's last best hope - a laterally moving gunship with a single-shot cannon. As the orderly alien squadron zig-zags its way towards the bottom of the screen, the player's task is to take them all down before they land or destroy all three ships.

Only four destructible shields stand between the player and the aliens' genocidal mania, but they renew on each wave of attack. Some aliens release slow-moving bombs, others' are faster; destroying an invader scores a point value according to its type. From time to time a flying saucer will zoom across the top of the screen - these come in different sizes, and the smaller they are, the more they're worth when they're hit. Space Strike has 7 skill levels to choose from, and keeps track of the highest score for each level.

Trivia

This was the very first PC game Michael Abrash wrote.

The packaging for this game suggested that it did not come in box, but rather some sort of bubble/shell on a hanging card (similar to how most small toys are hung on hooks nowadays). This was a common practice for the early personal software industry.

The inside of the packaging is a fold-out that appeals to vendors, not consumers. This suggests that the same card was used not only for end-user packaging, but also for sending flyers to vendors in an effort to sell product to resellers. The inside text reads (optionally, refer to the box covers):

An exclusive for the
