The beatdown is the icky controls and no strategy at all...

The Good
he missions are varied ranging from killing gang leaders, or delivering ingredients to the drug chemist. You're given a handful of thugs with a variety of skills and stats, ranging from health bars to strength levels and then a featured trait. Good example is of a thug, who only uses his fist in combat, or a gunman uses ranged attacks like guns, then you have an assortment of specialty units which deals out damage equal to a main boss. You can also have eight members max in a group, but there more of a liability than an asset. The music is also decent, if you like spooky hip-hop MIDI.

The Bad
The interface is very bad, and will have you guessing what to do next. Path-finding in the game is horrible, its just click somewhere on the map and off they go, but most of the time they won't reach their destination due to some obstacles that get in the way, and therefore will have you clicking repeatedly on the outside areas to free him, without any success. The gang members don't really move well and there's no formations at all which equals no strategy involved.

The graphics are okay for a game made in 1999, but the character modeling, wait there is no modeling at all, except a bunch of colorful sprites put together that doesn't resemble the average gangster. You think they might add a variety of sprites, but they all look the same.

The controls also add more pain and humiliation than joy from playing. Like I said above, the pathfinding and the control scheme are horrendous and you'll be developing an ache from all the left-clicking you have to do in this game.

**The Bottom Line**
Overall the game has a few good things, but the controls, interface, and pathfinding make this game frustrating to play. Good thing I had a demo of it off of one of my PC Gamer CD's than the actual game, because this is a waste of money and you're better off with the original Grand Theft Auto or the Fallout Series.
