Description

The first of the "F/A-18 Hornet" series, this flight simulator was among the most realistic available for the Macintosh at the time of its release. It features a detailed simulation of the F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet in air-air and air-ground combat missions. The flat-shaded polygon graphics allow for high frame rates even on pre-PowerPC Macintoshes.

Hornet offers wide variety of weapons including cannon, Sidewinder, Maverick, HARM and AMRAAM missiles, and cluster, free-fall and laser-guided bombs. The player must learn to use several varieties of air-air and air-ground radar modes in order to target and destroy the enemy.

Missions are flown in the Persian Gulf from both aircraft carriers and land-based airfields. The player earns awards and promotions for completing mission objectives. The missions culminate in a nuclear strike against an enemy installation.
