Quicksilver Fantasies Solo Gaming Adventures
Description
A fan has made unauthorized adaptations of Quicksilver gamebooks, all of a Dungeons & Dragons-ish medieval fantasy bent, published between 1981 through '83, converting them into a Windows-executable dB2K database to automatically handle hypertext transitions between paragraphs and automate periodic stats and inventory management as well as randomization as might have been initially called for with die rolls.
The program includes all four entries from Quicksilver's small-scale Mini-series gamebooks, each containing three distinct but related adventures for different player classes: Carnival in Windemere*;
- Crystal's Pleasure Palace;
- The Freak Show;
- and Tails of the Expected
as well as the first two of the four larger-scale, single-class Maxi-Solo adventures: Message from Heartbreak Mountain*
- and Journey from Rigour.

Trivia
The author was quite resolute about implementing these gamebooks in release 0.4 of dB2K "because this doesn't use the Borland Database Engine" -- for apparently obvious yet unstated reasons that might not be entirely clear those of us who aren't database aficionados.
