Vanitas
Description
Vanitas is a meditative game based around three objects inside a box. The player is able to open the box and manipulate the items. They can be moved or dragged around to interact with the others. Clicking them triggers small events with animations providing hints of the history they hold. There are 35 different objects arranged over 12 stages and because the content of the box is different each time is opened a large amount of combinations is possible. Whenever three identical items are inside discovered a gold star is awarded. In the background quotes of famous authors scroll by, related to the main theme.
The game was commissioned for the Art History of Games symposium and exhibition by the Savannah College of Art and Design (February 2010, in Atlanta - USA) and the Georgia Institute of Technology Program in Digital Media.
