Quazatron
- Quazatron (1986 on ZX Spectrum)
Description
This freeware remake of the robot battle game from 1986 completely revamps the presentation, with full 3D graphics replacing the ancient isometric bitmaps. The player controls KLP-2, nicknamed "Klepto", a robot sent by its creators to disable others of its kind patrolling an underground citadel. The other machines can be destroyed in several different ways: Klepto can shoot them, collide and throw them off balance, making them fall from a great height or touch them to override their circuits with the grapple.
As in Paradroid, the grapple move brings a window at the center of the screen with a mini-game, where the two cybernetic adversaries try to make as many connections as possible to light the circuit board. After winning the battle, Klepto can salvage parts from the wrecked robot to increase his capabilities. The citadel has several levels that can be reached with lifts scattered around each floor.
